I need Pest Control....What is the process?

The process begins with an initial inspection and evaluation of the premises.  An experienced technician will meet with you at your home or office to conduct a thorough inspection of the site to identify pests, areas conducive to pests and structural or sanitation issues which aid in infestation of the premises.  Once an evaluation has been completed, the technician will establish a customized program that meets your home or business requirements.

An initial treatment will be scheduled; during which, the technician will conduct the following:

  • Inspect and treat the yard for fire ants

  • Treat perimeter of house around windows, doorways and areas conducive to pests

  • Treat interior of premises to include:
       - Dusting of all wall voids including all kitchen, bath and laundry plumbing areas as well as visible entry points.
       - Attic (when needed)
       - Dust and/or treat specific infested areas

Due to the nature of most insects and their breeding patterns, it is extremely important to maintain a treatment program.  Just because you do not see pests after the initial treatment, that does not mean they are not present.  Therefore maintaining treatment is extremely important.  In order to decrease the pest population in your home or office, regular treatments should be scheduled.  The frequency of these treatments will range from monthly to quarterly.

Am I doing something to cause pests in my home or office?

If needed, our technicians will offer areas of improvement that may be required in order to maintain a successful pest control program.  They can also suggest ways to improve the structural integrity of the premises such as cracks in the foundation or holes that require patching to control rodent entry.  Sanitation and food disposal techniques can also be recommended.

Is it a termite or an ant?

Termites can be an extremely costly problem if left untreated.  They conduct billions of dollars of damage a year across the globe. It is very important to treat termites properly and promptly once identified.  Because termites feed on cellulose or wood and wood-like materials, your home is a prime target for their destruction. Often times, termites are confused with a type of flying ant known as carpenter ants. Heart of Texas will be happy to provide an initial inspection and estimate at no cost. If the technician finds evidence of termites in an area of your home or business (or an area that may be conducive) they will offer options for treatment.

Our technicians suggest Termidor ® to treat the infestation. This liquid treatment is applied to areas as needed and is then ingested by the termite.  As the termite feeds on this product, the product will adhere to their bodies and they w ill carry it back to the colonies, where it is spread to the other termites. Eventually, all of the termites have either consumed or come into contact with the substance and elimination of the insect is inevitable.

Treatment of termites can range from a one time spot treatment to a full treatment of your home and yearly maintenance services dependent upon the severity.
